Mass timber is trending

Mass timber is at the forefront of green building, and for really good reasons! Commercial construction and residential builders are rapidly turning their attention to the benefits of mass timber. The growing popularity stems from its sustainability, durability, beauty, and cost effectiveness.

  1. Durability: Mass timber is a durable material that can withstand extreme weather conditions and is resistant to rot, pests, and fire. It has a long lifespan and can be used in a variety of applications.

  2. Cost-effectiveness: Mass timber can be a cost-effective building material, particularly when considering that in the case of an Enertia Home, mass timber takes the place of framing, siding, insulation and sheetrock. Of course, the greatest asset in our use of mass timber is the energy savings.

  3. Aesthetics: Mass timber adds a unique and attractive aesthetic to a building. It can be used in a variety of finishes and styles and it can also be combined with other materials, such as glass or concrete, to create a modern and stylish look.

  4. Environmentally responsible: The mass timber used to build an average Enertia home regrows every 28 seconds and very little energy is used to process this wood. Not only does the standing timber remove carbon from the atmosphere, but in the life time of an Enertia home is can sequester up to 200,000 lbs of carbon
